2015-09-23 Professor Uchida from Faculty of Sport Sciences, Waseda University Visits Physical Education College

        At 9:30, September 21, 2015, Professor Uchida and Shigeo,Vice Deans of the School of Sport Sciences, Waseda University, Japan, visited the Physical Education College, where they were warmly received by Professor Yuan Lei, Dean of the Physical Education College and PhDSupervisor; Professor She Yan, Party Secretary; Professor Liu Zhongmin, Vice Dean; and Associate Professor Zou Xiaofeng, Vice Dean. The two parties have conducted productive exchanges in the conference room of the Physical Education College.

        Firstly, Professor Yuan extended a warm welcome to his old friend Professor Uchida and recalled our cooperation and exchanges in recent yearswith the Faculty of Sport Sciences, Waseda University. In particular, he expressed his gratitude for the further study plans for teachers provided by Waseda University during the GCOE (Global Center of Excellence) program. Currently,one of our teachersis doing doctoral research at theFaculty of Sport Sciences, Waseda University. In return, Professor Uchidaexpressed his thanks for the kindness and support Waseda University had received in previous exchanges, which enabled the two sides to communicate in depth in the fields of teacher improvement and topic research. This visit was held under the Top Global University Project of the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, of whichthe “Health and Exercise Science” program of Waseda Univerisity was honored to be a part. The meetingwasintended to discuss further cooperation between the two sides based on this project. In order to better implement the project, the Faculty of Sport Sciences, Waseda University plans to achieve all-English teaching for its master programs in 2018 and facilitate students of our college to further their studies in Waseda University.

        During the visit, the two sides exchanged insights on “3+2” undergraduate programs, teacher exchange for research and teaching, and modes of sports exchanges at various levels. A framework for future cooperation has been initially developed and the intention of cooperation formed. The two sides have agreed to formulate a memorandum of understanding based on this visitand materialize their intention of cooperation as soon as possible.

        At 13:30, Professor Shigeo delivered a lecture to teachers of specialized courses and some undergraduate and graduate students of the Physical Education College in the multimedia classroom and track-and-field corridor, titled “Running Guidance—Cited Views in the University Environment”. In his lecture, Professor Shigeo provided a theoretical and practical explanation on the senses, independence, environment, and strength of running, fromwhichboth the faculty and student have benefited a lot.
