2015-09-23 Professor Uchida from Faculty of Sport Sciences, Waseda University Visits Physical Education College

At 9:30, September 21, 2015, Professor Uchida and Shigeo,Vice Deans of the Faculty of Sport Sciences, Waseda University in Japan visited the Physical Education College, where they were warmly received by Professor Yuan Lei, Dean of the Physical Education College and PhD Supervisor; Professor She Yan, Party Secretary; Professor Liu Zhongmin, Vice Dean; and Associate Professor Zou Xiaofeng, Vice Dean. The two parties have conducted effective exchanges in the conference room of the Physical Education College.

     Firstly, Dean Yuan extended a warm welcome to his old friend Professor Uchida, and reviewed our cooperation and exchanges in recent years with the Faculty of Sport Sciences, Waseda University. In particular, he expressed his gratitude for the further study plan for teachers provided by the Japanese side during the GCOE (Global Center of Excellence) program. Currently, one of our teachers is doing doctoral research at the Faculty of Sport Sciences, Waseda University. In turn, Professor Uchida expressed his thanks for our kindness and support towards the Japanese side in previous exchanges, which enabled the two sides to communicate in depth in the fields of teacher improvement and topic research. This visit was held under the Top Global University Project of the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, of which the Health and Exercise Science program of Waseda Univerisity was honored to be a part. The visit was intended to discuss further cooperation between the two sides based on this project. In order to better implement the project, the Faculty of Sport Sciences, Waseda University plans to achieve all-English teaching for its master programs in 2018, in order to facilitate  students of our college to further their studies in Waseda University.

      During the visit, the two sides exchanged in depth views on 3+2 undergraduate programs, teacher exchange for research and teaching, and modes of sports exchanges at various levels. A framework for future cooperation has been initially developed and the intention of cooperation formed. The two sides have agreed to formulate a memorandum of understanding based on this visit and implement their intention of cooperation as soon as possible.

     At 13:30, Professor Shigeo gave a lecture for teachers of specialized courses and some undergraduate and graduate students of the Physical Education College in the multimedia classroom and track-and-field corridor, titled Running GuidanceCited Views in the University Environment. In his lecture, Professor Shigeo provided a theoretical and practical explanation on the feeling, independence, environment, and strength of running, from which both the faculty and student have benefited a lot.
